RULES AND RESTRICTIONS

  1. PARTICIPANTS between the ages of 14 and 18 must be trained in paddling a canoe/kayak, i.e. merit badge or other certification or must have an adult present in the boat for the entire race. All participants under 18 must turn in a completed parental release form.

  2. Must wear their assigned number bib throughout the race

  3. Unsportsmanship in any form will not be tolerated up to and including disqualification.

  4. No alcoholic beverages before, during, or after the race, automatic disqualification.


EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  1. Race Participant provides the canoe/kayak, all safety articles, paddles, and a PFD that has not been repaired, is approved by the US Coast Gurard

  2. Canoe/kayak may be made of any type of material and wil determine class unless the participant chooses to upgrade and is qualified.Length 8-18'. Inflatables and rowing sculls are not allowed.

    ADVENTURE CLASS: includes aluminum, plastic, ABS, touring kayaks, surf skis, sea kayaks, hybrids and sit on tops. No fiberglass canoes will be allowed.

    COMPETITOR CLASS: C1, C2, K1, K2. ALL kevlar and carbon canoes/kayaks are entered into this class.

    You can select up but not down bassed on your boat.

    1. C-2 max length 18'6" no rudder, single blade paddles, USCA Rules

    2. Tandem unlimited, kayak or canoe

    3. Solo unlimited, kayak or canoe

  3. Kayak are solo or tandem, professional canoes are tandem (meaning 2, racaers in the same canoe).

    ADVENTURE CANOES ARE tandem meaning 2 racers only.

  4. Rope, 1 whistle, first aid supplies, commuinication deveices, cell phones., food and water as required.

    COMPETITOR CLASS: must carry a minimum of 1 gallon of water per racer.

  5. The necessry equipment for portage requirements.

  6. Extra paddle may be attached inside the canoe but in no case will the race paddles be attached in any form to the canoe or the racer.

  7. All canoes/kayaks are powered only by the muscles of the racers.

  8. Rudders will be allowed per rules.

  9. All racing craft will have two numbers on the visible surfaces on the bow of the boat. It will be assigned at registration.

  10. All canoes/kayaks must have adequate floatation as an integral part.

  11. There is unloading but no parking at the FM1093 River Bridge. Drop off early, starting at 6:45 am.


OTHER MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS

  1. Your starting time is assigned and will not be changed.

  2. You must cross the finish line to complete the race.

  3. You must pass equipment inspection at any time prior to and after the race.
